Pinky, Bubble Gum, Nara and Nora - my sweet herd of unicorns!

The enchanting unicorn "Nora" is again a pattern from Hoooked. I was unhappy with the German translation (I didn't check the English translation) of the crochet pattern: there were too many errors. On the other hand, the instructions for sewing together were much clearer and finally had several pictures from different angles - that helped a lot!

And there's so much yarn that it's enough for multiple unicorns!

Reading & Understanding

The instructions made me rather unhappy, it's one of the worse ones. I have summarized my comments and corrections for you.

As always, I start with a magic loop for all parts instead of 2 chain stitches.

Body & Legs

  • There is no instruction on how to start (2 sc or magic loop).
  • Rounds 1 to 5 are crocheted in pink - unfortunately not mentioned.
  • I would crochet round 4 in the back loop only, so that Nora stands better - the first version has a tendency to fall on her nose.
  • Additionally, the leg does not stop after round 5, but after round 6 - after the first white round!
  • The instructions on how to crochet the legs together is poorly translated again. But it works just like with the elephant Mo, there I also wrote a correction including photos for illustration.
  • I would stuff after round 16, otherwise there is no more room for it...

Head

  • I stuffed after round 16, as there would be no more room for stuffing later on.
  • The instructions for rounds 6 to 8 are incorrect. It states to repeat 2 times, but it should be 3 times. This is what is stated in the original and otherwise, one will not have enough stitches.

Ears

I've sewn the beginning thread at the ear edge downwards and pulled it tight. This way, the ear will slightly gather and look rounder.

Alicorn

I did the alicorn differently: a magic loop with 3 sc and then increased by one stitch each round (in the first sc) until I had 7 sc in one round. Then gently stuffed and sewn.

Sewing

Simply follow the instructions in the pattern - this time the hints and pictures are great!

The Herd

The wool was enough for three unicorns, with the third unicorn becoming a dream in pink - the yarn for the mane & tail only lasted for two unicorns. However, I still have a lot of white yarn left - who would like a white horse?

After I had a small herd of three cute but quite similar unicorns, I tried something different: May I introduce? Bubble Gum! Bubble Gum consists mostly of the instructions from Zizi, where the "nose" was shortened by two rows. The ears and horn are an "Original Nora".
