My mother loves to photograph birds. So, Látrabjarg in Iceland is the ideal place for her, and for me too, because you can get "really close" to the puffins - you can see them super duper well, and I was in seventh heaven ;)

Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik

From the airport to the hotel in Reykjavik - realizing that our car was built for someone with uneven legs - and then wandering around the city in the afternoon.

Day 2: Reykjavik - Arkanes - Arnarstapi

The day started with rainy weather and unfortunately didn't get any better. In the morning, we went to the Sólfar (Sun Voyage) statue. Then to the lighthouses of Arkanes and in the late afternoon a walk on the coast of Arnarstapi. By the way, during the walk on the coast, you had to be very careful of low-flying seagulls...

Day 3: Snaefellsjoekull National Park

The weather wasn't really any better on this day, but at least there was no rain - and we even saw blue sky for a very short time - a true event!

Day 4: Flatey Island

Just when you think the weather can't get any worse, it definitely does: freezing cold and cold wind from the ocean. As if that wasn't enough, we were also on the small island of Flatey for a few hours... Yay... The positive thing about today: puffins! Although they also looked like the weather was not to their liking.

Day 5: Látrabjarg

After every storm, comes the sun - very true! My sunburn on one half of my face was good proof of that.

Látrabjarg was the main goal of this trip: birds, lots of birds... and it's also the westernmost point of Europe - so a very special sunburn ^.^

As I said, my mother convinced me with "lots of puffins"... So, there are also lots of puffin photos:

Day 6: Látrabjarg - Húsafell

A really long day of driving. Actually just a driving day with breaks to stretch our legs:

The first stop was at Iceland's oldest steel ship, built in 1912, stranded at Ósafjörður in 1981. The last stop was at Hraunfossar - as in previous years, the weather wasn't particularly good when we were there...

Day 7: Relaxing in Reykjavik

Happy but exhausted, we just strolled around the city and looked for good food.

Day 8: Return flight

At an inhumane hour, after a lousy night in the storm, we returned to Switzerland.
